Bard Athletic Center
, located in Bard Hall, is a comprehensive facility designed to meet the fitness needs of students and administrators. The Center is handicapped accessible and includes:

All Medical Center students must register and obtain a BAC validation sticker from the Office of Housing Services. This sticker when affixed to the CUMC I.D. provides students access to and use of the facility. Students are not charged an access fee.

Fees associated with exercise programs and other services offered by the BAC are additional.

Spouse Package - Full Year $115.00 Half Year $60.00
Entitles student’s spouse/partner access and use of facility and equipment. Fees associated with exercise programs and other services offered by the Center are extra.

Submission of proof of couple’s status required - marriage license, NY City Affidavit of Domestic Partnership or CU Designation of Partner.

Employees /Staff
All eligible employees may gain access to the facility and equipment by purchasing either TRIP TICKETS or an ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE.

Trip Tickets
This ticket entitles you to use the facility on a per visit basis. A day locker and towel are provided. Fees associated with exercise programs and other services offered by the Center are extra.

Guest Ticket

Ticket entitles member’s guest access to facility on a per trip basis. Member limited to 2 guests/visit. Student members can register visiting university students with the Office of Housing Services. Day Locker and Towel provided

Locker rental runs from June to June and rented on a first come first served basis.

Bathing suit dryers located in each locker room. Bathing suits and towels must not be locked to the outside of lockers.

Exercise Programs
The Center offers daily aerobic and yoga classes taught by certified instructors. Participants must purchase either a daily or monthly pass.

Other Services

Squash Courts
Reservations can be made after 4:30 PM, one day in advance by phone 212-304-7010 or in person. Member name and BAC# must be provided.

Aerobic/Yoga Classes
Reservations can be made beginning at 10 AM the day of the class. In-person sign up given preference over phone requests. Member name and BAC# must be provided.

Equipment - Treadmills, Step Climbers, Ellipticals
Reservations can be made current day, in person only. Member name and BAC# must be listed on sign-up sheet. Treadmill sign-up limited to once/day. The 5 minute rule always in effect. 5 minutes after the assigned session begins any vacant equipment can be used by any member for the remaining portion of the assigned time period.

While the Bard Athletic Center has current equipment it should be noted that the
Center is not air conditioned. Bard Hall was built in a time before central air conditioning and when academic schedules excluded the summer months. Fans are located in the exercise areas of the facility, but temperatures can get unpleasant in the summer months. Care should be taken when scheduling summer work outs.

The BAC reserves the right to terminate anyone’s membership for not following the governing rules of the facility. This includes but is not limited to falsifying membership eligibility, unsportsmanlike conduct, and abuse of equipment sign-up procedures.

SOCCER
Soccer is offered every Tuesday night.

If overcrowding continues, we will revisit by adding extra nights. Come and enjoy...There are good times to have for all!

Classes Offered

Group Cycle
A high intensity group cycling class suitable for all levels. Increase your cardiovascular endurance without impact. Each class is different, fun, and set to great music. Come ready for a variety of sprints, hills, mixed terrain, and flats. Arrive prior to the start time of class to set up your bike. Please let the instructor know if you are new to the class.

Body Sculpt
Develop muscular strength and define your body. The class will utilize a combination of weights, tubing, and your own body weight to perform resistance exercises. Learn resistance-training exercises that you can take with you to the weight room.

Sports Conditioning
A high intensity fun class with running drills, plyometrics, and strength training. Bring a friend as you enjoy a total body athletic workout using weights, bands, steps and more. Be prepared to sweat and have a great time in partner drills and relay races. Suitable for all levels.

Yoga
A "hybrid" yoga class that combines elements of hatha yoga, traditional fitness exercises, stretching and relaxation. Designed to provide you with a more powerful, flexible, defined physique. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.
